I wrote, photographed, and designed a 34-page cookbook in 6 weeks. The concept behind the book was to create a beautiful, simple designed, photography-centered American-Filipino cookbook filled with well-loved traditional recipes with multicultural twists.
My Background
My husband is Filipino and has taught me many Filipino recipes which I’ve put a twist on as an American myself. For my favorite American recipes, I’ve learned what my husband and Filipinos enjoy and changed my recipes to better adapt to their lifestyle. I also try
to keep the recipes more simple and easy for busy lifestyles but people who still want great meals. I created value to the book by adding in tips, stories behind the recipes, and information on ingredients and how to shop for different cultural food in other countries.

Before I started designing the pages in InDesign, I made thumbnail and larger sketches as guidelines and to create consistency for my layouts.
